I was curious and so I googled why pears are a common subject in
paintings. I learned that apples are actually more popular. Not for me -
I've definitely painted more pears than apples. I didn't need an excuse
to paint pears anyways. They are simply fun to paint!
A plein air painting in which I braved the elements - in this case it
was the heat and coyotes howling in the distance. This old building
lives on an abandoned (but curiously freshly mowed) farmyard near Plato
Dam in Saskatchewan, Canada.
My two year old is a good sounding board for these abstract landscapes.
If she says "outside, trees, moon!" I know I have just enough
information in the painting to make things discernible, yet abstract and
impressionistic. The elements in this painting appear to have no beginning or end. Lightly textured, scumbled layers of paint.
Here's my entry for Nibblefest! This month's theme is "Flowers" and I've taken the opportunity to wish all the gardeners - Happy Gardening in 2017! The auction

I've been snapping photos of the Saskatchewan countryside all winter.
The photo for this painting was taken west of Saskatoon. The red behind
the trees were some sort of dogwood or cotoneasters. I exaggerated them
for an interesting effect in an otherwise gray and gloomy winter
landscape. Thick impasto snow! There's an Agalloch song in this painting somewhere...
Here's my entry for Nibblefest! This month's theme is "Better Late Than Never" in which we are to depict
a theme we missed in 2016. Well, I'm proud to say I didn't miss one
Nibblefest in the last few years! So I'm selling this piece painted in
2015... better late than never! The auction starts at only $0.99. CLICK HERE to view the auction!
